Creative Movement - Ballet

Creative Movement is a joyful way for children (ages 3-4) to explore movement through music, develop physical skills, channel energy, stimulate imagination and promote creativity. Creative Movement uses body actions to: communicate an image (the wind), communicate an idea (a journey) or communicate a feeling (strength). There is also an exploration of primary technical skills to get the child to become familiar with terms they will here as they embark on their dance career. Students will also learn basic ballet terminology.

Creative Movement - Tap Jazz

Creative Movement is a joyful way for children (ages 3-4) to explore movement through music, develop physical skills, channel energy, stimulate imagination and promote creativity. Creative Movement uses body actions to: communicate an image (the wind), communicate an idea (a journey) or communicate a feeling (strength). There is also an exploration of primary technical skills to get the child to become familiar with terms they will here as they embark on their dance career. Students will also learn basic rhythms and terminology related to tap and jazz dance.

Modern

The Modern class will teach students the fundamentals of the Horton technique at a beginner's pace. Many of the beginning level studies taught will include flat backs, primitive squats, lateral stretches, release swings, leg swings, deep lunges, and T positions. Fundamentals of the Horton technique can be seen in many great dance works, predominantly in those choreographed by Alvin Ailey, founder of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater.
 
 
 

BALLET

This class focuses on basic ballet technique, proper body alignment, French terminology and musicality. Attention is paid to the proper extension of the legs and shape of the feet, developing movement sequences, port de bras, and balance.

Ballet 1 is for beginner level ages 5-7, Ballet 2 is for intermediate level ages 7-10.

Jazz

Jazz class will focus on learning proper dance techniques such as isolations of the body, improving performance quality, and developing complex rhythms and patterns. It will include the opportunity to cultivate the student’s natural rhythm.
 
 

Contemporary

A style of expressive dance that combines elements of several dance genres, including modern, jazz, lyrical, and classical ballet.
